Specialized Landscape Company Profile

Chris McAfee began Specialized Lawn Care in March of 1998.  This was a part-time endeavor while Chris completed his studies at the University of Louisville Business School and worked for another landscape contractor.  Upon graduating college, Chris decided to go full-time with his lawn care company.  In the beginning, he only offered turf services such as mowing, leaf removal, fertilizing and weed control treatments.  As Specialized Lawn Care’s client base grew so did the demand for additional services.  Chris quickly realized he did not have the knowledge to effectively perform the additional landscape services his clientele demanded, such as shrub pruning and landscape installations.  Therefore, Chris decided to partner with Tony Sermersheim, who had the plant knowledge that Chris was lacking to become a successful full-service landscape company.  Chris and Tony were former co-workers that had both left the landscape company they had been employed to start their own respective companies.  Where Chris solely concentrated on turf services, the company Tony began only performed landscape services such as edging, mulching, pruning, and installation.

 In March of 2001, Chris and Tony merged to form Specialized Landscape Company, LLC.  The result was a new company that could confidently offer clients complete landscape design/build and maintenance services.  Over the past six years Chris and Tony have continued to expand their knowledge of the Green Industry and build a team of experienced landscape professionals.  Today, Specialized Landscape Company provides its clientele with superior quality and customized landscape designs and maintenance services.  SLC is  small enough to offer personalized attention where clients still see both owners working on their properties, but SLC is large enough to meet and exceed its client’s needs and expectations.
